ABOUT

Through her videos and projections, Constance de Raucourt uses light, acceleration, deceleration and modifications of scale to disrupt our perceptions. We observe mesmerizing landscapes, bizarre architectures with no clue to what we are seeing. She creates an imaginary world where an egg soaked in vinegar can become an underwater storm. What she lets us see is never what we expected it to be. Tiny becomes huge and common becomes sacred. The observer guesses objects without being able to truly discern them. He's left with foggy images and glimpses of an external activity. Using projection, she establishes immersive environments. The changing intensity and color coming from the video projector through the video reshape the perception of our present surroundings. Constance de Raucourt's pieces are constantly evolving because a different place, a different time of the day (thus different light settings) creates a new experience.
