ABOUT

Julius Horsthuis (Amsterdam, 1980) is a Visual Artist who almost exclusively uses Fractals. Horsthuis uses math and infinite geometric patterns to create mind-bending films that
take our imagination on a journey. In a fractal reality, Horsthuis is much like a director or photographer in which he is operating in a world that already exists and it is up to
him to search for the right fractal angle. Julius Horsthuis, whose previous work has been featured in the Academy Award winning “Manchester by the Sea” (2016) and VFX-film “Koning van Katoren” (2012), considers his art - “a journey of discovery”, as he uncovers to the eye of the Viewer the immensely unique fractal reality. Using fractals to create sci-fi type worlds is something of an outlier when it comes to visual art or motion graphics.
Horsthuis’ work has been featured prominently on music and art festivals worldwide, such as Coachella Music and Arts Festival, Geneva International Film Festival, Art
Futura Festival and SAT symposium Montréal. His work has been featured in Blogs and news sites such as The Creators Project, Gizmodo, Newsweek and the Vimeo Staff Picks.
Musical collaborations include Odesza, Meshuggah, Ott, Tigran Hamasyan and Max
Cooper.
